Annual salary $1,650.00 as per the current Extra Service Salary Schedule. Must be 21+ years old. Seasonal - No benefits.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Coach in secondary school interscholastic Cheerleading program.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Program Leadership & Organization
- Plan, organize, and supervise all cheerleading practices, games, competitions, and events.
- Develop and implement a structured practice schedule that builds athletic skills, teamwork, and performance quality.
- Create and teach cheers, chants, sideline routines, stunts, tumbling, and halftime performances.
- Ensure the cheer program supports and promotes school spirit at athletic and school-wide events.
- Enforce DSHS code of conduct at ALL Times
Safety & Supervision
- Enforce safety protocols for stunting, tumbling, and conditioning in line with NFHS and KHSAA (or state governing body) guidelines.
- Provide proper supervision of athletes at all practices, games, competitions, and travel events.
- Ensure medical clearance and adherence to physical, injury, and concussion protocols.
Team Development
- Teach skills progression appropriate to athlete's ability levels.
- Promote teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and positive student representation.
- Hold athletes accountable for academic eligibility and behavior expectations.
- Develop captains and student leaders to assist with team morale and peer accountability.
Administrative Duties
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school administration, and the athletic department.
- Organize tryouts, maintain fair selection processes, and keep accurate rosters.
- Manage team budget, fundraising, uniforms, equipment, and travel logistics.
- Attend coaches’ meetings, professional development, and required training.
- Be in compliance with Redbook policies and procedures
Community & School Involvement
- Represent the cheer program as a positive ambassador for the school.
- Collaborate with other coaches and sponsors to support overall athletics.
- Encourage team participation in school and community service events.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of
- Fundamentals of Cheerleading.

- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability to
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate; and
- a minimum of 64 semester hours from an accredited college or university; or completion of a Level 1 Coaching Certification Program
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of criminal records check, Medical examination with TB test, drug screening, classroom behavior training and blood-borne pathogens training plus current certification in first aid & CPR.

As a condition of initial employment, all employees shall pass a medical examination. The medical examination shall be reported on the form required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation available at the Board of Education office. The examination shall be provided by a licensed physician, physician assistant (PA), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Each medical examination shall include a risk assessment for tuberculosis as required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation. Individuals identified by that assessment as being at high risk for TB shall be required to undergo a tuberculin skin test. 702 KAR 001:160
All applicants being considered for employment shall be required to submit to a urinalysis test for the detection of illegal use of drugs and alcohol. An applicant refusing to complete any part of the drug testing procedure will not be considered a valid candidate for employment with the District, and such will be considered as a withdrawal of the individual’s application for employment. If substance screening shows a confirmed positive result for which there is no current physician’s prescription, a second confirming test may be requested by the HRC. If the first or any requested second confirming test is positive, any current job offer will be revoked. The applicant will not be permitted to reapply for employment with the District for at least twelve (12) months and not until the applicant shows proof of successful completion of a drug rehabilitation program or proof that the applicant is no longer engaging in illegal drug use.
