BASIC FUNCTION:

Deploy, configure, and maintain various software applications, cloud-hosted platforms, and a diverse fleet of devices and peripheral equipment for instructional and administrative purposes. Respond to user requests for assistance and technical issue resolution. Troubleshoot and repair basic system errors and maintain system operation. Assist classroom teachers in the incorporation of technological hardware and software into the lesson plan and helping teachers effectively integrate technology into the curriculum.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain a diverse fleet of devices including but not limited to, Windows PCs, Mac computers, iPads, and Chromebooks for instructional and administrative purposes.
  • Manage devices, push applications, and enforce security policies using district Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (e.g., Google Admin Console, Apple School Manager, Microsoft Intune).
  • Utilize the district's helpdesk ticketing system to track, document, and prioritize support requests and resolutions efficiently.
  • Research software to determine hardware and configuration requirements to assure system compatibility.
  • Study software manuals to learn installation procedures and basic application functions; test applications following installation to assure proper operation.
  • Orient and demonstrate users to new software.
  • Interact with District users to determine system needs and to assure integrity of LANs; assure proper connectivity interfaces with cloud-hosted platforms and state-mandated Student Information Systems (SIS).
  • Respond to user requests for assistance and issue resolution; provide technical information and assistance by phone, via ticketing system, or by visiting District sites.
  • Research software manuals and contact software and hardware manufacturers for information and assistance; explain and demonstrate the source of an error to the user to prevent recurring problems.
  • Assist with reconfiguration and upgrades of software as appropriate; perform repairs or refer hardware repairs to appropriate technical electronics personnel.
  • Provide individual and group training in modern productivity, communication, and creative suites (e.g., Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, Canva).
  • Provide technical training to District users in hardware and software troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Maintain a variety of logs and records, including software and hardware inventories, upgrades and repairs, and assist with the disposal of district surplus inventory.
  • Assist in the maintenance of district network infrastructure, physical servers, and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Assist in ensuring appropriate Internet monitoring through cloud-based content filtering and student safety monitoring platforms (e.g., GoGuardian, Linewize, or Lightspeed).
  • Assist with creating and maintaining staff and student email and cloud directory accounts.
  • Implement security procedures as necessary to safeguard district resources. Assist in ensuring district compliance with CIPA and FERPA, and promote cybersecurity awareness among staff (e.g., phishing prevention, MFA).
  • Collaborate on the successful integration of hardware, software and Internet resources, in support of student learning, and assist teachers in meeting Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Technology.
  • Create learning resources for teachers, staff and students. These may include web sites, tutorials, instructional videos, interactive programs, and databases that support teachers in integrating technology.
  • Ideally, teachers will be guided and encouraged to develop their own resources, while the Technology Integration Specialist will continue to provide additional support as needed.
  • Coordinate instruction to meet technology proficiency goals including training, lab sessions, and workshops regarding computer use.
  • Assist in planning and implementing a variety of extended opportunities for student learning.
  • Identify trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies and other educational areas.
  • Assess technology skill levels of students, teachers and staff.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and integration of technology plans.
  • Recommend software and related resources.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Administration and troubleshooting of operating systems including ChromeOS, iPadOS/iOS, Windows, and macOS.
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) principles and zero-touch deployment workflows across Apple, Google, and Microsoft ecosystems.
  • Modern software applications including Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, and other cloud-based instructional systems.
  • Principles of data communications, cloud computing, and modern network operations.
  • System utilities and design and program applications.
  • Principles of data management, organization and flow.
  • Technical aspects of LAN maintenance and cloud infrastructure operations.
  • Methods for integrating technology into the curriculum using mobile devices such as Chromebooks and iPads.

ABILITY TO:

  • Deploy, configure, and manage diverse fleets of devices for instructional and administrative purposes.
  • Respond to user requests for assistance, troubleshoot errors, and provide technical support.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic system, interactive classroom display (e.g., Promethean, SMART Boards), casting device, and peripheral equipment issues to maintain system operation.
  • Operate networks, cloud platforms, devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Assist and train users possessing varying degrees of skill in using technology and related software.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Read, interpret and apply detailed and technical written and oral instructions.
  • Plan and organize work.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Bend, crouch, twist and reach to install equipment in confined areas

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree or certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting a mixed-platform environment (Apple, Google, Windows) in an enterprise or K-12 educational setting is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting a 1:1 device environment and managing platforms like Google Workspace for Education.
  • Preferred: Google Certified Educator/Administrator, Apple Teacher, or CompTIA A+/Network+ certifications.

As a condition of initial employment, all employees shall pass a medical examination. The medical examination shall be reported on the form required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation available at the Board of Education office. The examination shall be provided by a licensed physician, physician assistant (PA), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Each medical examination shall include a risk assessment for tuberculosis as required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation. Individuals identified by that assessment as being at high risk for TB shall be required to undergo a tuberculin skin test. A Medical exam & TB screen performed for another school district of current employment or within a 6 month separation period may be accepted. 702 KAR 001:160

 

All applicants being considered for employment shall be required to submit to a urinalysis test for the detection of illegal use of drugs and alcohol. An applicant refusing to complete any part of the drug testing procedure will not be considered a valid candidate for employment with the District, and such will be considered as a withdrawal of the individual’s application for employment. If substance screening shows a confirmed positive result for which there is no current physician’s prescription, a second confirming test may be requested by the HRC. If the first or any requested second confirming test is positive, any current job offer will be revoked. The applicant will not be permitted to reapply for employment with the District for at least twelve (12) months and not until the applicant shows proof of successful completion of a drug rehabilitation program or proof that the applicant is no longer engaging in illegal drug use. A drug screen, which includes our 5 required panels, performed for another school district of current employment or within a 6 month separation period may be accepted. As a condition of initial employment, all employees shall complete training for the use of physical restraint and seclusion in school districts. 704 KAR 7:160
